British roots-rockers Gomez are set to see out the year with their biggest UK tour in some time.
Friends from an early age, Gomez formed at university. Blending a love of indie rock with blues and country styles, the band’s roots-driven sound quickly found favour with the record labels and a bidding war erupted.
With good reason, it was to transpire. Recorded in a garage, debut album ‘Bring It On’ scooped the Mercury Music Prize catapulting the band to stardom. Soon Gomez were household names, capable of filling out some of the nation’s biggest venues.
Since then Gomez have failed to re-capture the glorious heights of their debut. Whilst the band have continually challenged themselves ‘Bring It On’ remains the benchmark by which they are judged.
Last year the band celebrated the album’s 10th anniversary with a host of tour dates, playing ‘Bring It On’ in full. However Gomez were keen to put the past to rest, and began work on their new album.
The band’s first full length release in three years, ‘A New Tide’ was a new beginning for the group. Gomez are now signed to Eat Sleep, and returned to their beginnings by self-producing the album.
Hailed as a triumphant return by fans Gomez are set to take their new material on the road with an extensive nine date tour. The band will open the dates in Coventry on November 14th before travelling around the country.
The tour will wrap up with a very special show in Edinburgh’s Queens Hall. Gomez have conformed the following tour dates:
