Mercury snatching folk-blues outfit Gomez are to tour the UK this April, as well as returning with their new album ‘A New Tide’.
After a minor hiatus from raspy-throated singer Ben Ottewell last year, Gomez will return as a full band with collaborations for the album including Stars’ Amy Milan and Stuart Bogie of the Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra – expect a heady mix of eclectic sounds, then.
Their 90’s breakthrough ‘Bring It On’ saw Gomez go from flat-jamming students to full-blown classic album status with its concoction of wayward blues and psych-pop leanings. Singles such as ‘Get Myself Arrested’ and ‘Whippin’ Piccadilly’ saw them unleash eclectic slices of radio-friendly blues with a leftfield edge.
