Gloomy Scots Glasvegas were forced to cancel their scheduled appearance at Coachella, as singer James Allen is ill.
The group were due to perform at the desert event on Saturday (April 18th) but pulled out. Scheduled to play the Mojave tent, the group were left with no option but to cancel as James Allen’s health deteriorated.
The blow comes as Glasvegas aim to launch their festival season. The band’s guitarist Rab Allen recently criticised their performances at last year’s festivals and claimed they would be prepare prepared for the summer season.
However their army of fans didn’t seem to mind during last year’s events, as bedlam followed the group from festival to festival. At T In The Park Glasvegas packed the T Break tent to bursting point with fans queuing up outside hoping to catch a glimpse of their set.
Glasvegas released their self-titled debut album soon after, which promptly flew into the charts after a closely contested battle with Metallica for the top spot.
This summer Glasvegas are scheduled to play a number of festivals, including a return appearance at T In The Park. All reports suggest that the group have beefed up their live sound, and are keen to get out and show audiences what they can do.
Coachella will have to wait for the band’s first performance, however. Glasvegas were apparently onsite but could not perform due to James Allen suffering from exhaustion and dehydration.
Coachella is set in the deserts of California and regularly reports extremely high temperatures, with James Allen far from the only victim of the heat.
