Glastonbury Hosts New Bands

Unsigned Groups Announced For Event

This year’s Glastonbury will hand unsigned groups the chance to play the famous festival after two groups – The Travelling Band and The Golden Silvers – were personally selected by event organiser Michael Eavis.

Eavis and a band of helpers selected the acts from a vast pile of demo tapes (or mp3s in this day and age). A shortlist of 12 talented new groups played a show in nearby Pilton Working Men’s Club, with The Travelling Band and The Golden Silvers emerging triumphant.

Previous winners of this competition include The Subways and Scouting For Girls.

Glastonbury takes place in June and is already sold out.
