Glastonbury Headliners “Pretty Soon”

Main Acts Finalized Shortly

The headliners for next year’s Glastonbury festival are set to be organized “pretty soon”, according to new interview with Emily Eavis.

In an interview with BBC News, festival organizer Eavis ruled out a number of big names who had been in the running to play the event saying “it’s not Coldplay, it’s not U2 and it’s not The Rolling Stones.” The arrangements are being made earlier this year after the festival changed its ticket policy making it easier – in theory – to obtain tickets for the event.

This year’s event was the slowest selling Glastonbury in fifteen years, and the line up received widespread criticism. However, the lasting appeal of Britain’s biggest festival remains, with music lovers flocking in thousands to the Somerset site.

Eavis explained her hunt for headliners by saying “because our tickets go on sale on October 5 we’ve brought it forward. So we’re ensconced in chat about next year and there’s a lot of good feeling after such an amazing festival. We’re talking to a few people at the moment and I think pretty soon we’ll have some stuff sorted.”

There has been no date set for an announcement on headliners for Glastonbury festival 2009 but bookmakers have installed Radiohead as favourites. The Oxford group have played two headline sets before, with their 1997 performance widely hailed as on eof the all-time great British festival moments.
