The organisers of the Glastonbury Festival has refused to be drawn into the debate over who should headline the festival this year, with strong rumours that Blur will play a slot.
The festival has already sold thousands of tickets due to an early bird scheme, designed to give a fairer allocation of tickets. As ever, the final bill is a closely guarded mystery with the organisers eager to follow up on the musical success of 2008. Although criticised in some quarters, the decision to place Jay-Z as a headliner was met with euphoria from the crowd, in what was surely one of the year’s pivotal live music moments.
A spokesman for the festival told the BBC that fans should ignore speculation.
“We are talking to headliners at the moment,” he said. “There is lots of speculation about who might or might not be playing next year.
“We’re confident it will be as good as Jay-Z. No headliners have been confirmed.”
As previously reported, Blur will reform for a on July 3rd.
