Glastonbury 2024: Kasabian Play Surprise Set

A hit-laden blockbuster...

Kasabian have just played a surprise set at Glastonbury.

The festival is bathing in sunshine, with fans anticipating some key performances from today’s run. Eagle-eyed observers would have noticed that Woodsies Stage had a TBC slot at 6pm – and as it turns out, it was a big-name inclusion.

Kasabian hit Woodsies with full force, the huge crowd packing the tent and fanning out far beyond the arena. The Leicester band packed the set with fan-pleasing hits, such as thumping opener ‘Club Foot’ and a magnetic ‘Underdog’. Serge Pizzorno told the crowd: “This is the time right now!”

Digging into the archive, Kasabian unearthed favourites such as ‘Shoot The Runner’ and ‘Call’, while also making room for some new material.

The band’s new album ‘Happenings’ is on the horizon, and the Leicester group are grappling with new challenges. The crowd cheered every single song, with a blown-away Serge Pizzorno shouting “use your voices” and “let’s get those fucking hands in the air!”

There was room for some playful moments, too – ‘Coming Back To Me Good’ interpolated ‘Groove Is In The Heart’ while ‘treat’ lifted a portion of Beastie Boys classic ‘intergalactic’. Closing with ‘Fire’ it was a rousing return from the band.

Glastonbury continues with a headline set from Coldplay this evening.
