Foo Fighters Close T In The Park

Festival comes to a close

Foo Fighters have returned to Scotland to close this year’s instalment of T In The Park.

Well, it couldn’t last forever. Thousands of fans have descended on T In The Park and, with the fireworks sounding overhead, it seems that the finish line is in sight for another musical marathon.

The weather has been mixed, with the site initially turning forecasters into the butt of jokes. However as the weekend drew on T In The Park suffered from heavy showers, notably on its final day.

However fans decided not to let the conditions get them down. T In The Park began to wind down with an epic set from Pulp, which included frontman Jarvis Cocker delighting in the demise of the News Of The World.

Ending with ‘Common People’ the set was a real crowd pleaser, throwing in a few album tracks for good measure.

Over on the Radio 1 Stage, Beady Eye blasted through their debut album in front of a massive crowd. Liam Gallagher has not set foot on Balado soil for some time, and his return was clearly a big draw.

The Red Bull tent held Eels, who faced the unenviable task of going up against the headliners. E led a crack outfit, who blended a horn section with their crisp guitars.

Throwing in a cover of Sly & The Family Stone’s ‘Hot Fun In The Summertime’ the group then strode into their classic anthem ‘Novacane For The Soul’.

Fans swarmed the Main Stage for Foo Fighters. Dave Grohl & Co. were on euphoric form, with the headline show coming so soon after their epic stand at the Milton Keynes Bowl last week.

Throwing everything into the set, the band focussed on their new album but broke into a series of classic cuts. Admitting that they hated encores, the American rock icons powered through the set with a rare sense of purpose.

Always an entertaining frontman, Dave Grohl repeatedly thanked the crowd “for sticking by this band for 16 years” before Foo Fighters left amid a massive fireworks display.
