Fever Ray For Oxegen

Therapy? also set for Irish event

Ireland’s biggest music festival Oxegen have confirmed a special set by Fever Ray, the new solo project from Karin Dreijer Andersson.

Set on Punchestown Racecourse, Oxegen has grown to become one of Europe’s biggest and wildest parties. This year the festival has bagged a number of number of very special headliners, including Southern indie giants Kings Of Leon.

Festival organisers quizzed fans as last summer’s event on who they would like to see return, and the answer was overwhelmingly in favour of the Followills. A year on, the group have topped the UK charts, selling bucketloads of their new album ‘Only By The Night’.

The band are now set to be joined by new additions to the bill such as Fever Ray. As lead singer with The Knife, Karin Dreijer Andersson sculpts downbeat synth pop. A fascinating duo, The Knife are set to work on a new opera.

The group are due to premiere the new show in Copenhagen later this year, before taking the opera on tour around Europe. Sure, it’s not a new album but given the bizarre nature of The Knife’s live show it could be well worth seeing.

Joining Fever Ray on the bill are Northern Irish rock heroes Therapy?. Loved by their fans, the group are now celebrating their 20th anniversary by releasing new album ‘Crooked Timber’. With a sterling back catalogue to draw on, a live set by Therapy? is one of life’s little pleasures.

Also confirmed for the Irish bash is German techno whizzkid Boys Noize. Touring the UK last year, Boys Noize allowed British dance fans to see what they’re missing. With a string of acclaimed remixes under his belt, debut album ‘Oi Oi Oi’ has become cult listening.

The final new addition to Oxegen is grime sensation Tinchy Stryder. Sure, he’s not everyone’s cup of tea but with his single ‘Number One’ currently sitting on top of the charts Stryder has got plenty of admirers.

Other headliners include the likes of recent Brit Award winners Pet Shop Boys, The Killers, Snow Patrol, Manic Street Preachers and many more.

Oxegen festival is set to take place between July 10th – 12th.
