Eugene McGuinness Pub Show

Bull & Gate turns 30

Fresh faced songwriter Eugene McGuinness is set to play an intimate show to celebrate the birthday of London venue the Bull & Gate.

Venues are the bedrock of the music scene, but under current legislation it is becoming harder and harder to promote new groups. Noise laws have impacted on established venues, with established clubs such as Plastic People in London struggling to comply with the demands of authorities.

So it’s good to celebrate long standing venues. London’s Bull & Gate is set to turn thirty years old, after three decades of promoting live music.

Countless hopefuls have played the tiny venue, which is located in Kentish Town. Organising a special birthday party, Domino Records have hopped on board to supply the musical entertainment.

The label will showcase its wares on September 30th, with Eugene McGuinness set to headline. The chirpy songwriter played solo on his self-titled debut, but for last year’s ‘Glue’ recruited a band.

Showcasing a love of garage rock, the singer is not averse to throwing in a few Sonics covers when playing live. Mixing acoustic songcraft with a love of The Strokes, his upcoming material is eagerly anticipated.

Now working with a loose collective of musicians, the singer is working on the official follow up to his highly praised debut effort. Now Eugene McGuinness is set to take time out for a rare solo show.

The London based songwriter will tread the boards at the Bull & Gate later this year. Toasting the venue’s birthday, Eugene McGuinness will be joined by a host of new talent at the event.

Anna Calvi and Edward Seed are also on the bill, with plenty more surprises set to be unveiled on the night.

Eugene McGuinness will play the following show:
