Empire State Bastard To Host Their Own Festival

It's a metal showdown...

Empire State Bastard are set to host their own festival this summer.

The duo – Simon Neil and Mike Vennart – use the band as a vessel to indulge their passion for metal, with some cataclysmic results. Empire State Bastard shared their emphatic debut album in full last year, subsequently gaining two nominations at the Heavy Music Awards.

Looking ahead, Empire State Bastard will host their own festival in Sheffield later this year. Bastard Fest – see what they did there? – takes place on July 13th at Corporation in Sheffield.

The bill is packed, too. Alongside a headline slot from Empire State Bastard, you can expect sets from a number of fellow UK metal acts: HeriotConjurerPupil Slicer and Sheffield locals Hidden Mothers

Tickets for Bastard Fest 2024 will go on sale at 10.00am on Thursday (June 20th), via the venue website and See Tickets. There will be an ESB fan presale taking place on Wednesday (June 19th) from 10.00am, for those signed up to the band’s mailing list.

In an interview with CLASH last year, Simon Neil reflected on the genesis of Empire State Bastard. He commented:

We probably wouldn’t have had time logistically without the pandemic happening. We didn’t want it to be a flippant project that we did if we had a few weeks off here or there. We wanted to spend at least a year or two making a record and going out and touring. So that was prohibitive for a few years.

Then, the deterioration of our civilization is really hard to ignore. So there was definitely a stimulus coming from that. So a combination of both, we had the right poison in our minds to spit, but also we had the time to spit it.
