Elbow and Paul Weller have been confirmed to play concerts at Jodrell Bank.
One of the most important astrophysics landmarks in the UK, Jodrell Bank have played host to some fascinating discoveries. Starting last summer, the facility began to play host to some musical discoveries as well.
Returning this summer, the landmark is to be turned into an impromptu gig venue. Jodrell Bank will host two separate concerts, with Elbow and Paul Weller set to headline across the two nights.
Elbow will perform at the observatory on June 23rd, before Paul Weller takes over the following night (June 24th). Both artists will be joined by special guests, with the shows due to take place in the grounds – overlooked by the historic building.
Elbow singer Guy Garvey is clearly over the moon (ooft! poor pun! – Ed.) at the opportunity to play his band’s album ‘Build A Rocket Boys!’ at Jodrell Bank.
“I am a space nut” he said recently. “My cat is even named after the woman who discovered pulsars, and Patrick Moore does all the trailers and announcements for my 6 music radio show. So as you would imagine, playing alongside the local icon of space exploration fills me with cosmic glee.”
Tickets for the Jodrell Bank concerts go on sale this Thursday (March 1st) at 9am.
