Mercury award winning British group Elbow are set to close this year’s Bestival event, with a headlining performance on the Sunday night.
Elbow have watched in amazement as their profile shot up following the Mercury award victory. Their album ‘The Seldom Seen Kid’ was hailed by critics as one of the year’s finest albums, and the record went on to capture the public’s imagination with its mixture of heartfelt songwriting and lush, but unobtrusive, orchestration.
The group have now been handed yet another honour, with Elbow set to close Bestival. Run by Sunday Best head honcho Rob Da Bank, the event is one of the most unique on the summer calendar.
Taking place in September, it effectively closes the festival season. This year’s headliners include trip hop gurus Massive Attack and German electronic pioneers Kraftwerk. However the biggest talking point for campers is the annual fancy dress competition, which will this year be judged by foul mouthed pop starlet Lily Allen.
Other new additions to the bill include The Big Pink, Doves and The Horrors. The London garage group are set to release their second album ‘Primary Colours’ soon, with those who have heard it claiming it is a quantum leap onwards from the band’s debut album.
Elsewhere festival goers will enjoy sets from the likes of Toddla T, Polly Scattergood, Norwegian group Casiokids and The Ghost.
Bestival takes place at Robin Hill Country Party between September 11th – 13th.
