Scottish indie don Edwyn Collins is set to launch a new club called ‘A Night With The Artisans’.
Edwyn Collins has got excellent taste. Lead singer with Orange Juice, the Glasgow band attempted to channel The Velvet Underground into disco pioneers Chic – and almost succeeded.
Now an experienced solo artist and producer, Edwyn Collins has completed work on his new solo album ‘Losing Sleep’. A confident return, the material boasts guest appearances from The Cribs, Johnny Marr and more.
At times adopting some storming Motown rhythms, ‘Losing Sleep’ is one of the most energetic solo releases by the Scottish singer. Accompanied by a full scale tour, Edwyn Collins is now set to launch a new club night.
‘A Night With The Artisans’ is a collaboration with James Endeacott – best known for his role in signing both The Strokes and The Libertines to Rough Trade.
The pair will take control at London’s Luminare venue, putting on their favourite new bands and spinning some typically eclectic DJ sets. Taking place within sight of Collins ‘own studio, the new club will launch on September 15th.
To open ‘A Night With The Artisans’ Edwyn Collins has invited German beat combo The Kinbeats to perform. Moving to London specifically to work with the Scottish producer, the two are warm friends.
Support will come from The Onlookers, with some special guests on the night. Meanwhile both Edwyn Collins and James Endeacott aim to keep the dancefloor moving by taking turns on the decks.
