One of the true legends of Scottish music Edwyn Collins has been added to the bill for this summer’s T In The Park.
The influence of Edwyn Collins over Scottish indie music is simply unparalleled. As lead singer with Orange Juice the songwriter crafted something utterly new yet uniquely Scottish. Wry and witty, Collins was an instant pin up as Orange Juice crashed into the charts with their single ‘Rip It Up’.
After Orange Juice imploded Edwyn Collins enjoyed a long solo career, with another smash hit in the form of ‘A Girl Like You’. A renowned producer, Collins has worked with a number of groups adding his distinctive sound to their recordings.
The music industry was shocked when Edwyn Collins suffered a brain haemorrhage in 2005. Courageously battling back, the singer had to teach himself to write again and bravely took to the stage in an emotional show last year.
In a statement Edwyn Collins said “it’s exciting to be playing at T in the Park. I’ve never been there before, but my son and nephews and niece are there every year. They reckon it’s about time I got there”.
Other new additions to the bill include Canadian chip tune mentalists Crystal Castles, cult New York songwriter Regina Spektor and hardcore troubadour Frank Turner.
T In The Park have already announced the headliners for this year’s event with Kings Of Leon, Blur, Snow Patrol and more set to play very special sets.
