Manchester group Doves are set to return home for an enormous show after confirming a new December date.
Doves are intricately bound with Manchester. The group originally formed as the dance posse Sub Sub after an ecstatic session at the Hacienda. Inspired by the tribal sounds of Chicago and Detroit the band began making their own.
However after enduring label problems and even a fire in their rehearsal space the band reconstituted themselves as Doves. Using guitars – their only remaining instruments – Doves set about crafting a yearning, melancholic sound.
Loved by their army of fans, Doves recently returned from a four year break with their new album. Titled ‘Kingdom Of Rust’ it was well worth the wait, grabbing some fantastic reviews and delighting fans.
Since then, the band have played a number of spectacular live dates. A comeback tour was followed by some festival appearances, with Doves storming this summer’s Glastonbury festival.
In addition to this Doves also played a very special show in the City Of Manchester stadium. Devoted Manchester City fans the trio played before the unveiling of the team’s new top alongside a host of other acts.
As massive fans, this was obviously a real privilege for the group. However entry was restricted with only a limited number of fans able to get tickets. Doves aim to play a special homecoming show later this year after announcing a show at Manchester’s Central venue.
Doves are set to play the following date:
December
18 Manchester Central
