Returning Manchester indie heroes Doves are set to headline the John Peel Stage at this year’s Glastonbury festival.
Long since sold out, the Glastonbury organisers have kept ticket holders on their toes by releasing line up information in extremely small selective amounts.
Bruce Springsteen will play his first ever Glastonbury set this summer, and The Boss will be joined by Blur, Neil Young, Franz Ferdinand and more.
In a new interview Doves’ drummer Andy Williams claims the band will perform on the John Peel Stage at this year’s festival. “I think there might have been possibly the chance of doing one of the other stages in the afternoon but we really love that stage,” he said.
“The first time we ever played Glastonbury we played that stage, I think it was called the New Bands Tent. It’s just such a great tent to generate a vibe.”
Singer Jez Williams revealed that the band were offered the chance to play the Other Stage, but declined as they didn’t want to play in a tent. “That’s how we started at Glastonbury. It’s a bit more claustrophobic, a bit more sweaty, there’s a bit more atmosphere,” he added.
Glastonbury takes place between June 26th – 28th.
