Dirty Projectors Plot Orchestral Show

'The Getty Address' performed in its entirety

Brooklyn psych-rockers Dirty Projectors are to play a one off show in London backed by a twenty piece orchestra.

Dirty Projectors are enjoying a surge of popularity. The band have been producing otherworldly psych-pop for years, but it wasn’t until 2009’s ‘Bitte Orca’ that the rest of the world began to catch up.

Reviewing critical praise the album has become a word of mouth success, one of the most left field albums to make an impression on the Billboard charts in some time.

Since then, Dirty Projectors have played a series of orchestral shows. Performing to sold out crowds in New York and Los Angeles, the Brooklyn group have expanded their psych-pop template to suit enormous concert halls.

Perhaps the most ambitious projects the band have yet undertaken, Dirty Projectors are now set to bring their orchestral show to London.

The Brooklyn band will be joined by a twenty piece orchestra named Alarm Will Sound. Described as a “contemporary ensemble” the musicians mix classical frameworks with modern composition.

In the past Alarm Will Sound have turned the music of Aphex Twin into a chamber piece. Now the ensemble are due to join Dirty Projectors to perform their 2005 album ‘The Getty Address’ in its entirety.

Taking place on June 25th, the show will be set in The Barbican. A rare British appearance from Dirty Projectors, tickets for the gig are on now.

Dirty Projectors are set to play the following show:
