Depeche Mode Glastonbury Rumour

Synth legends could headline

Rumours are circulating that hugely successful electro-rock group Depeche Mode are set to headline Glastonbury.

Formed in early 80s Essex, the band became part of the New Romantic movement. Founder member Vince Clarke left the band after their first album, but the group persevered to become one of the biggest bands on the planet.

A long running joke in the British music press, Depeche Mode conquered America where they are still able to fill stadiums. The band have even been cited as a formative influence by techno pioneers The Belleville Three!

Depeche Mode could be set to play Glastonbury, with reports suggesting that they only agreed to play after being assured that all of their record label staff would get VIP passes.

“The band are delighted to have got this sorted,” a source told The Sun newspaper.

“They were keen to play but wanted everyone from Mute to be able to be there to celebrate, not just a few big bosses.”

Bruce Springsteen has already been confirmed as a headliner for this summer’s Glastonbury, which has already sold out. There will be four headliners in all, with Michael Eavis revealing that two will be British, and two coming from the United States.
