American hip hop outlaws Cypress Hill are to play several UK shows ahead of their new album.
Drugs have always had their place in popular music. Reflecting and inspiring the attitudes of their audiences, a series of bands and performers have spoken of their experiences while under the influence.
However few have been so intricately tied to drug use as Cypress Hill. The Californian band rarely let a day go by without getting toasted, and have frequently extolled the virtues of the demon weed on their albums.
Returning later this month with their new set ‘Rise Up’ the band are trying to re-capture the form which made them so potent in the mid 90s. Cypress Hill may well succeed, with the Latino gang spitting some ferocious rhymes on their new album.
Set to be released on April 19th, ‘Rise Up’ will be followed by a series of UK tour dates. Cypress Hill rarely tour, and these appearances represent their first steps on British soil in some time.
The band are due to play a lengthy European tour, which will stop off in the UK in June. Cypress Hill are set to play London’s Brixton Academy on June 15th, before travelling to Glasgow the next day.
In addition to this the hip hop titans are set to play a set at Reading and Leeds. Cypress Hill will join a bill packed with exclusives including legendary American rockers Guns N Roses and of course The Libertines.
Cypress Hill are to play the following shows:

15 London Brixton Academy
16 Glasgow O2 Academy
