Crystal Castles Glasto Chaos

Canadian Band Fight Security

Canadian electro group Crystal Castles caused chaos at Glastonbury, with their set being cut by security after 20 minutes of mayhem.

The band are once again at the centre of controversy, mere weeks after being accused of using others artist’s material without giving due credit. Crystal Castles are heavily influenced by the so-called “8 Bit” scene, which uses electronics that recall music created for antique games consoles such as the ZX Spectrum and the Commodore 64.

The band performed at the John Peel Tent, with their manic live show causing problems for the event’s security. Front-woman Alice Glass climbed metal pillars, only for security to grow concerned for her welfare and the structure of the tent. Power was stopped to the group’s equipment, and some sense of normality returned before wild bouts of crowd surfing led to the band being ushered off-stage after only twenty minutes.

The crowd were understandably angry yet the band did not return to complete their set.
