The organisers of Coachella have announced a stunning first wave of acts for this year’s event.
Held in a Californian desert, Coachella has earned a reputation for producing pretty special bills. Recently, several leaks and fake posters have been circulated online which threatened to de-rail this year’s campaign.
However organisers managed to keep most of their secrets well hidden. This summer Coachella will stretch across two weekends for the first time, running between April 13th-15th and April 20th-22nd.
The first instalment of the line up includes some startling names. At The Drive-In are to reform and play at the desert event, while Swedish punks Refused will also play their first show in fourteen years at the festival.
Elsewhere, Coachella have secured a performance from Canadian producer The Weeknd whose ghostly R&B will move into the live arena. Other highlights are headline turns from Radiohead and The Black Keys, while Bon Iver, Florence & The Machine and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds all get starring roles.
Other surprises include an appearance from Pulp, who recently hinted at more live shows, and a set from Mike Watt’s recently reformed group fIREHOSE.
