Clash SXSW showcase 2016: The Revenge, Yak, Honne

Join us at the British Embassy!

SXSW is rapidly approaching, and Clash is heading out to Austin, Texas, for a one-off showcase in association with PPL, flying the flag for UK music.

We’re hitting up the British Music Embassy on Friday March 18th – from 8pm until 2am, with six choice acts plucked from across the pond.

First up is Cambridge MPhil grad Throwing Shade, who makes electronic pop for the scrolling generation of digi-addicts. She has a highly-acclaimed ‘House Of Silk’ EP out now on Ninja Tune, while her coveted NTS shows bring an ethnomusicological perspective to the airwaves. She’ll be joined by Glaswegian KLOE – one of our 10 rising music picks for 2016 – whose driving pop ballads and nocturnal musings have placed the teen pop prodigy on the lips of many.

London trio HÆLOS have rightly earned a spot on Matador for their soon-to-be-released debut album, distilling the exhilaration and introspection of a night out into their dark, cavernous sound. While the hotly-tipped Yak will be bringing the noise (described by Peace to us as “sexy, dangerous and so, so loud”) via their fiery brand of post-punk.

Disco house guru The Revenge gained rapt applause last year with his debut album ‘Love That Will Not Die’, and the Scottish DJ will be spinning a selection of the finest, followed closely by longtime London pals Honne. The pair have been dubbed ‘futuristic soul to reinvent babymaking music’, and the former Clash Next Waves have a penchant for oozing synths, slap bass and yearning vocals, taking hints from the likes of Quincy Jones and Bon Iver.

Make sure you come join us if you’re in Austin! There’s no need to RSVP, but you’ll need a music badge or wristband to gain entry.

The British Embassy is situated at Latitude 30, 512 San Jacinto Blvd, TX 78701. The showcase takes place on Friday March 18th, from 8pm until 2am.
