Last month we announced details of our exciting monthly issue launch gigs in Manchester, with Jim Noir headlining at the Deaf Institute on October 6th. Now we can reveal that Lucy Rose will be playing a very special show for us on 25th October at the same venue. For just £9 this intimate occasion will truly be an ‘I was there when’ moment as she inexorably rises to stardom, plus you can get your hands on the current issue of Clash Magazine if you get through the doors early! Get tickets here…
Recently Lucy has been hidden away in her parents’ basement – not in a worrying case of childhood neglect, but instead to work on her debut album ‘Like I Used To’, due 24th September. A former Clash Ones To Watch act, Lucy has already amassed a huge fan-base. She began by relentlessly playing open-mic nights in London upon moving to the capital after completing her A-levels aged eighteen.
While playing these early gigs she met Jack Steadman of Bombay Bicycle Club and the two became friends. Lucy then appeared as a backing vocalist on the title-track of their acoustic album ‘Flaws’. She’s since supported BBC on tour and released a string of EP’s, each furthering her repertoire of soothing acoustic melodies.
New single ‘Bikes’ sees Lucy forming a bicycle club of her own after getting into a bar brawl over a glass of milk. Watch the video below to see how she does against five burly bikers. The single is due out on 16th September and will be one of many stand-out moments in an unmissable set in Manchester… So get yourself a ticket before they run out. See you there!
