Clash is delighted to announce the headliners for its new Clash Live event, with Josh Weller, The Ettes, Fol Chen and more set to rock the house.
After years of attending gigs and never quite being totally happy with the experience, the brains behind award winning music journal Clash decided to just run their own club night. Titled Clash Live, it is dedicated to bringing you tomorrow’s stars today, catching up and coming talent just as they start knocking on the doors of the charts.
Held monthly in London’s infamous live music den Hoxton Bar And Grill, Clash live combines a stunning venue with a great atmosphere. Just like the magazine, our Clash Live nights are run by fans, for fans!
Clash Live returns on June 10th with a bumper crop of talent. Josh Weller recently blew the doors off Madame Jojos with a sensational set, part absurdist cabaret and part pop masterclass it marked Weller out as a man to watch.
Oozing charisma the songwriter skips across the stage with a wonderful sense of abandon. Recalling the cracked voice of jazz great Chet Baker, the shock-haired Londoner is tipped by many for success in 2009.
Joining Josh Weller on the bill are New York garage punks The Ettes. A walking homage to a time when the fuzz pedal was king, the band’s explosive live shows have seen them recently support blues two-piece Black Keys.
Fol Chen hail from Highland Park, California but don’t come along expecting sunshine pop. Dark and melodramatic, the band’s synth styles recall the glory days of Depeche Mode and The Human League without ever seeming retro.
Completing the line up are HOLDEN and the infamous Clash DJs, clutching their CD bag close to their hearts.
One of the most in demand club nights in the capital, Clash Live just goes from strength to strength. Join us in June for yet more musical mayhem!
The next Clash Live takes place on June 10th in London’s Hoxton Bar And Grill. Tickets are £5 in advance, £6 on the door and a mere £4 NUS.
