The legend that is Manu Chao has also just been announced as a headline artist to take the line-up to a whole new level for lovers of music across the entire spectrum.
The big pull for Clash readers is undoubtedly gonna be the return of the Clash stage on Sunday 20th.
Downtown Brooklyn arrives in London for the weekend in the shape of a larger than life movie set reincarnation of a 1970’s New York street scene. Coming complete with bars, restaurants, shops, a skateboard park and cabaret-style surprises. Clash will be hosting a stage within this fantastic installation and so far confirmed appearances are from Mick Jones’s new band The Dirty Stop Outs, Rhys Ifans project The Peth, Operator Please, Esser and the mighty Trojan Soundsystem with the legend that is Anthony ‘Gunshot’ Johnson on vocal duties.
Clubbing installations come on the form of a unique adaptation of the Stanley Kubrick classic film “Dr Strangelove” hosted by Gideon Reeling from the World famous Punchdrunk Theatre Company and featuring the DJ superstar Frankie Knuckles.
Secretsundaze and Mulletover will play host to London’s coolest and only cosmic forest party in The Stockade, a woodland fortress beneath Victoria Park’s oldest oak trees.
It’s also home to the drag queen-adorned Downlow club hosted by the infamous Horsemeat Disco.
Not to leave out the kids, The Fringe Stage and Kids Area will be providing a family-friendly experience inspired by the world famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The centrepiece of the area is the very green friendly Solar powered Firefly Fringe Stage which will feature a spellbinding line-up including escapologists, acrobats, a jazz jive school and barn dancing.
Finally the Lovebox experience would not be complete without the gastronomic delights of the Metro Sourced Market, brought to you by some of Borough Market’s finest traders. Offering scrumptious organic produce to eat, there will be an array of mouth-watering treats available from oysters to free range hog roast sarnies.
