Former Ash guitarist turned solo star Charlotte Hatherley has revealed a series of UK tour dates ahead of the release of her third album ‘New Worlds’.
Charlotte Hatherley enjoyed a rapid rise to fame. Not even twenty years old, she joined Northern Irish grunge-pop outfit Ash after impressing the group in an audition. Within weeks she made her performance debut at V festival – in front of a mere 50,000 people.
Adding to the group’s sound, Hatherley also contributed in the songwriting stakes. Emerging as a talent in her own right, the guitarist initially began blending her solo work with her commitment to Ash.
Debut album ‘Grey Will Fade’ was recorded at the same time as the Ash record ‘Meltdown’. Hailed by critics, the album won Charlotte Hatherley a devoted fan base and was followed by a short UK tour.
However the guitarist couldn’t maintain the work rate, and later left Ash to pursue solo project. Now working on her third solo album ‘New Worlds’ Hatherley has also found room to work on the new album by Bat For Lashes.
Asked by songwriter Natasha Khan to drop by recording sessions, the guitarist eventually contributed to great deal to the group’s Mercury nominated return ‘Two Suns’.
Charlotte Hatherley hasn’t let her solo ambitions slip, however. The guitarist will release her third album ‘New Worlds’ on October 19th, but before then has the small matter of a UK tour to complete.
