Manchester outfit Cats In Paris are set to kick off their UK tour tonight – and have spoken to Clash Music about their live dates ahead of hitting the road.
Since forming last year, Cats In Paris have gained a devoted following with their unusual blend of alt folk and electro-pop (check out their impressively bonkers track ‘The Curse Of Johan Brian’ HERE).
The band recently lost a member when vocalist Sarah Beard decided to call it a day, however have vowed to continue as a trio.
Clash Music caught up with drummer Ben Summers to get the lowdown on their new single ‘The One/Vampires’ and their UK tour, which kicks off tonight:
“We’re ridiculously excited about doing our first proper tour. We’re going to Scotland for the first time ever which is really great, and we’re playing with loads of bands we love like the Mae Shi and Great Eskimo Hoax. We’re doing it all without a label which has been incredibly fun and interesting, inbetween all the bits where I nearly broke down weeping like a big girl about how difficult it all was to arrange.”
*And the new single ‘The One/Vampires’..?
“We recorded the tracks for the new 7” partly in a bungalow in North Wales with no heating or toilet and partly in Lorien’s bedroom, on the rickety old computer we use for everything. The A side is called “The One” and in many ways is a love song about perfume. The B side is a rather raucous tale about having dinner with a vampire. They’re the first songs we recorded since Sara left the band and they’re WELL manly..”
