Carl Barat UK Solo Debut

Libertine breaks new ground

Former Libertine Carl Barat has made his UK solo debut by playing a headline show in the Wakefield Escobar.

The show took place last night (March 6th) and was the singer’s first headline show under his own name. Barat played a secret show at the Glastonbury festival last year, and recently accompanied close friends Glasvegas on their tour of the United States.

The singer is still reeling from the split of recent project Dirty Pretty Things. After just two albums together the band members agreed to call it a day, leaving Barat in reflective mode.

At the show the singer was keen to look back on his career playing a number of Libertines classics. Songs such as debut single ‘What A Waster’ and album highlight ‘I Get Along’ were received well by the fans, who packed the tiny Yorkshire venue.

Barat also played a number of songs by his other band Dirty Pretty Things, leaving the audience screaming for more.

No new material was debuted at the show, although it is widely expected that Barat will begin work on a solo album soon. The singer has also been linked to a possible Libertines re-union, although this may well be idle speculation.

Barat subsequently played a set a the same venue on Saturday night (March 7th).
