Carl Barat Joins Adam Green

Parisian team up for indie icons

Indie icons Carl Barat and Adam Green have stunned fans by playing a joint gig together in Paris on Friday night (September 18th).

Carl Barat is taking things easy for perhaps the first time in a decade. After the whirlwind career of The Libertines and the indie stardom of Dirty Pretty Things the singer is going solo – and appears to be loving it.

Dirty Pretty Things collapsed last year, with Carl Barat playing a number of solo shows soon after. Touring the United States with Glasvegas the singer rummaged through his back catalogue, before returning to the UK.

Seeming to play shows whenever it takes his fancy, Carl Barat recently debuted solo material at a residency in Wakefield before stunning fans by taking to the stage with former Libertines cohort Pete Doherty.

Now Carl Barat has continued these collaborations by playing a show with New York songwriter Adam Green. Known for his work with The Mouldy Peaches before going solo, Green joined Carl Barat onstage in Paris.

The duo played Paris’ Centre Pompidou and were backed by Green’s band and a string section. The pair ran through The Libertines’ classic ‘What A Waster’ before moving on to Adam Green’s ‘Friends Of Mine’.

Barat played several new solo songs, with titles including ‘So Long My Lover’ and ‘We Are All Heroes’.

Both Adam Green and Carl Barat appeared relaxed throughout, with the New Yorker messing around with gaffa tape before finally destroying his guitar.
