Dirty Pretty Things’ lead singer Carl Barat has been added to the line up for this weekend’s In The City conference.
Carl Barat is set to appear on a discussion panel at this year’s In The City conference. The former Libertine will appear at an event dubbed ‘The Importance Of Being Idols’ alongside temperamental indie star Jon McClure of Reverend And The Makers.
Joining them on the panel will be New Order bassist Peter Hook and former Style Council drummer Steve White for a session which will apparently “address the dumbing down of the use of the word celebrity while discussing how to stay creative at the same time”.
In The City is an annual celebration of music founded by the late Tony Wilson. It is almost always held in Manchester.
The discussion is set to take place on October 6th at the Midlands Hotel in Manchester. Also joining the guests will be acclaimed film-maker Dick Carruthers, who will be showing footage from a secret gig which featured Oasis playing to just 100 people.
