Carl Barat For Glastonbury Slot

Libertines star for Leftfield Stage

Indie icon Carl Barat has confirmed a special slot at this summer’s Glastonbury.

Carl Barat has developed into a multi-talented artist. The Libertines songwriter recently made his acting debut, appearing onstage in London earlier this year.

Later narrating a documentary about London’s historic Docklands area, the singer shocked fans by re-joining The Libertines. The iconic indie stars are due to headline Reading and Leeds, as part of a one off re-union.

Dragging his military jacket out of the cupboard, Carl Barat has not forgotten about his own solo career. Currently working on a stripped down album, sessions could see the light of day before the year is out.

Playing a handful of solo shows last year, Carl Barat is now set to perform at Glastonbury. The singer will appear at the Leftfield Stage, which mixes musical performances with political and social debate.

This year the Leftfield Stage is curated by legendary songwriter Billy Bragg, who has assembled a varied bill. Barat will headline, following performances from some politically active artists.

Reverend And The Makers are set to perform at the Leftfield Stage, following a set from Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. Meanwhile, open debates on Global Solidarity and Climate Change are planned.

Over the course of the weekend other performers will include Frank Turner, The King Blues, Paul Heaton and Billy Bragg himself.

Glastonbury takes place between June 24th – 27th.
