Its onwards and upwards for the legendary Camden Crawl in 2008. Following from its establishment as a two day event this year it now moves from mid-week to the weekend. As well as hosting its usual glittering array of stars and talented unknowns, next year’s festival will grow to include a daytime arts programme, including acoustic sessions, performance art, daytime quizzes and many more. Furthermore, the planned exciting addition of an outdoor stage in central Camden Town will add a new, carnival-style, atmosphere to this already electrifying event.
The 2008 Crawl kicks off on Friday 18th April along a mile long stretch of pubs, clubs and other live venues. This strip of pavement will host up to 130 artists playing at 25 venues, often into the wee, wee hours of the morning – with much of the audience no doubt crawling home. One low cost ticket will allow up to 15,000 music fans unlimited access to all Crawl venues, after show parties and daytime activities.
In another unusual twist, next year’s bill will be staggered – continuing a trend begun in 2007. Up to 40 bands will appear twice – once each day – allowing fans two opportunities to see their heroes. In keeping with the democratic spirit of past Crawls, the full line-ups and stage times will remain a closely guarded secret until each night.
Initial line ups will be announced in January 2008.
