Some of the year’s most successful stars are set to join forces for T4’s Stars Of 2009 show, set to take place later this year.
It’s a little early to be talking about the end of the year, with the first leaves of Autumn only just beginning to decorate the pavement. However in the Clash office we’ve already begun receiving promo CDs for 2010, with work on future issue commencing.
Television broadcaster T4 has decided the time is here to celebrate a momentous year in pop. Michael Jackson died, Oasis split and the country entered its worst recession for thirty years – but there were a few good points.
A series of breaking acts brought a little glamour and controversy back to the charts, with British music taking over the world. Huge success at the Grammy awards showed that the nation is again leading the way in producing new music.
T4’s Stars Of 2009 aims to celebrate this with a massive show in London’s Earls Court. Taking over the huge arena the concert will boast performances from some of this year’s biggest stars.
Calvin Harris scored a massive summer hit with ‘I’m Not Alone’. The Scottish dance producer is gearing up to release his new album, with the superstar DJ set to drop by Earls Court for a no doubt titanic performance.
La Roux was one of the year’s biggest newcomers, with the duo scoring several hit singles. The Skream remix of ‘In For The Kill’ was unavoidable in clubland this year, while La Roux’s debut album scored some sizzling reviews.
JLS, Sugababes and Alexandra Burke are also set to be on the bill, with the event being screened on T4 and 4Music.
The event will also boast a ‘Celebrity Disco’ and signing area allowing fans to meet some of the acts involved. Organisers are set to announce more names during the week.
T4’s Stars Of 2009 is set to take place on November 29th.
