Hugely successful dance producer Calvin Harris unveiled two tracks from his forthcoming album at a special performance in London over the weekend (July 18th).
Calvin Harris must love the summer. When the sun (and the pollen count) are high the Scottish dance producer seems to score massive hits. In previous years ‘Acceptable In The 80s’ and ‘Dance Wiv Me’ became smash hits, and this year has proved to be no exception.
Beginning as a peaceful ode, ‘I’m Not Alone’ is suddenly transformed into a belting salute to old school rave. Soaring to number one, the producer followed this with a number of festival dates including a scorching slot at RockNess.
Taking to the stage at London’s historic Roundhouse venue, Calvin Harris was taking part in the iTunes festival. Forthcoming album ‘Ready For The Weekend’ is due to be released later this summer, and the producer chose to preview new material to the capacity crowd.
Calvin Harris had been unwell prior to the show. The Scottish dance figure had suffered from a mild bout of food poisoning, but still blasted out hits as ‘Girls’ and ‘Acceptable In The 80s’ for his fans.
“As some of you know or may not know, three days ago I ate a dodgy egg sandwich,” he admitted.
“So I’m not on top form tonight. That is not an excuse. Most of you know I’m not the best singer anyway.”
Calvin Harris seemed on good form throughout, and was able to complete his set without any difficulties. Opening with ‘Disco Heat’ the dancefloor titan moved straight into ‘Merrymaking At My Place’.
The producer finished with ‘I Created Disco’ before heading into ‘I’m Not Alone’. Calvin Harris joked with the crowd, asking the road crew: “Have you got that bucket? You might need that bucket!”
Calvin Harris played:
‘Disco Heat’
‘Merrymaking At My Place’
‘Colours’
‘Ready For The Weekend’
‘Acceptable In The 80s’
‘What’s Your Name?’
‘Vegas’
‘Flashback’
‘Girls’
‘I Created Disco’
‘I’m Not Alone’
