Buraka Som Sistema have unveiled details of an upcoming headline show in London’s Heaven venue.
A fusion of European and African culture, Buraka Som Sistema extend far beyond Western dance music. Taking time off to focus on solo projects, the group recently reconvened to complete their second album.
Titled ‘Komba’ the new material is set to drop on October 31st. The Halloween connection is perhaps apt, with the word ‘komba’ acting as a reference to a ritual in Angolan culture.
After someone dies, friends and relatives must spend seven days honouring the deceased by drinking their favourite drinks, eating their favourite food, dancing and singing their favourite songs while sharing experiences and telling stories about their life.
The motto? Live each day as if it is your last. Set to be released on October 31st, ‘Komba’ has been trailed by the free download ‘Burakaton’ (grab it HERE) and the single ‘(We Stay) Up All Night)’.
