Broken Social Scene Add Koko Shows

More UK dates confirmed

Canadian indie collective Broken Social Scene have confirmed a pair of shows at London’s Koko venue.

Broken Social Scene seem to extend beyond just music. A loose knit collective, the group help run the Arts & Crafts label which has done more than any other to revitalise Canadian alternative music.

Writing songs which move between politics and personal relationships with a poetic lightness, Broken Social Scene have become one of the most celebrated groups of their generation – albeit without the sales.

While Arcade Fire may be nestling at the top of the Billboard charts their close friends in Broken Social Scene can only dream of such commercial appreciation. Releasing their new album ‘Forgiveness Rock Record’ earlier this year the band delighted fans but failed to break out beyond the indie sphere.

Which is a tragedy, naturally. Returning to British shores soon, Broken Social Scene have announced two nights at London’s Koko venue this November.

Taking place on November 15th and 16th, the band will be joined by some special guests. Alongside this, the Canadian group have been confirmed for the Constellations Festival in Leeds during the same month.

Set to appear on November 14th, Broken Social Scene will perform on the same bill as Four Tet, Les Savy Fav and Local Natives… OH YES.

Meanwhile, the band have unveiled two new videos. ‘Forced To Love’ contains some cutting edge 3D visuals, while the short film accompanying ‘Meet Me In The Basement’ was crafted by a fan.

Filmed in response to the G20 meeting in Toronto, it was embraced by Broken Social Scene as a superb mixture of their music and a political message.

Broken Social Scene are due to play the following shows:

November
14 Leeds Constellations
15 London Koko
16 London Koko
