Inventive Yorkshire indie quartet British Sea Power are set to perform at this year’s Branchage Film Festival in Jersey.
British Sea Power are never afraid to try something new. The band’s habit of wearing clothes from the 1930s along with steel helmets have made them stand out from their ‘jeans and a t-shirt’ peers.
Latest album ‘Do You Like Rock Music?’ was an enormous success. Nominated for last year’s Mercury Music Prize it boasted a meatier production without British Sea Power using their unique charm.
Following this the band crafted a soundtrack to the legendary British nature film ‘Man Of Aran’. Shot on a remote Irish island, the silent film shows life amongst a community on a lonely rock, windswept yet beautiful.
British Sea Power rarely perform the soundtrack live, but have decided to unveil the project at this year’s Branchage Film Festival. Held on Jersey, the Channel Island will be host to a vast array of exciting new projects.
The Yorkshire band are set to play their ‘Man Of Aran’ film soundtrack live at the Jersey Opera House on October 4th. The band will be joined on the bill by Amiina, the Icelandic string quartet who have worked with Sigur Ros.
In addition to the live acts Branchage Film Festival will boast a number of screenings. The Arctic Monkeys-featuring film’Led Onk’ is set to be shown, while the Aphex Twin soundtracked ‘Sleep Furiously’ is also set to be shown.
Branchage Film Festival takes place on October 4th.
