British Sea Power are amongst the bands confirmed for the new Away Game festival.
Nestled in Scotland’s East Neuk, the Fence Collective punch above their weight. Members include KT Tunstall, James Yorkston and King Creosote with their annual Home Game event bringing hundreds of fans to the tiny village of Anstruther.
Often selling out months in advance, the crew of the good ship Fence have decided to set sail for new waters. The tiny island of Eigg is the destination, with the Away Game festival bringing hundreds of fans to the Western Isles.
A brave new venture, the festival actually sold out within seven minutes of tickets going on sale. Such is the demand to be involved, fans didn’t even wait to find out who was actually playing at the micro-festival.
Taking place between September 24th and 25th, the population of Eigg will more than double as fans take the ferry to the Western Isles. Now Homegame founder Johnny Lynch has confirmed details of the bill.
Headliners include British Sea Power, with the indie mavericks close to completing their new album. Following on from the success of ‘Do You Like Rock Music?’ the album will receive a preview at the Away Game event.
Joining the indie crew on the bill are Fence mainstays such as King Creosote and The Pictish Trail. Edinburgh folk outlaws Withered Hand are due to perform, with Meursault also set to appear in a solo guise.
Kompakt signings Walls will make the journey to Eigg, while producer – and Brian Eno collaborator – Jon Hopkins will renew his Fence acquaintance.
Newcomers Silver Columns are set to star at Away Game, after making their worldwide live debut in Anstruther earlier this year. With other acts including Adem, Found and Malcolm Middleton’s new project Human Don’t Be Angry the line up looks mouth watering.
Sadly, tickets are sold out! Hopefully this will return in a slightly expanded form next year.
Away Game takes place between September 24th – 25th.
