Police in Manchester, TN have seized five hundred butter cup treats laced with 35 pounds of the hallucinogenic drug Psilocybin, that were headed for this year’s Bonaroo Festival .
The peanut butter-based candies were attended to be sold at the event (taking place this weekend), for $20 a pop, but were seized along with other drug paraphernalia and thousands of dollars of cash from the home of a nearby resident yesterday, reports Murfreesborpost.
The event is one of the biggest festivals in America, with Bruce Springsteen and Beastie Boys set to play at this weekend’s bash.
The Beasties are set to play one of their only summer shows, with the legendary hip hop trio recently telling US magazine Billboard “we’re actually in the middle of recording right now”.
Rapper Ad Rock went on to elaborate on the recordings, suggesting they may have toned down their political activism (slightly): “It’s a lot of vocals, a lot of words — very wordy. And it’s political, depending on what you call political. You know, if toilet talk and fart jokes are political, which they can be, in that sense yeah, very.”
The Boss himself will also be appearing at Bonaroo over the weekend, before returning to play a series of massive UK shows, including this year’s Glastonbury and Hyde Park’s Hard Rock Calling alongside blue-collar punks The Gaslight Anthem.
