Bombs Away!

Snowbombing announce first acts from ADE.

Fresh lines, deep bass, big booters and massive drops. Snowboarding and dance music share some very similar colloquialisms. It is no wonder then that alpine festivals have been popping up across various mountain resorts over the last few years, mixing the high adrenalin of gnarly snow riding with no frills booty shaking.

None have been around as long as Snowbombing though, whose original formula has provided the blueprint for success for nigh on 13 years now. 2013’s crop of artists are set to touch down in Mayrhofen on 1st April for another week of mayhem and Clash are once again stoked to be an official media partner.

It was from their launch party at the Amsterdam Dance Event yesterday that we all received the first announcement of acts for this April, and once again we weren’t disappointed. One of Snowbombing’s best attributes is the ability to book artists at the top of their game from all echelons of electronic music, mixing styles and personalities to satisfy even the most greedy ears.

Like kids at Christmas, our eyes are immediately drawn to the biggest names in the pile of talent. For years Carl Cox has been putting in legendary performances across the globe, pulling epic sets out of the drawer and as a headliner for Snowboming, we’ll be expecting no less. Other heavyweights include the inimitable Seth Troxler, the king of versatility Skream, DnB legend Andy C, funkmaster Maceo Plex, and Jamaica’s favourite import David Rodigan MBE.

On top of this, the Innervisions crew will be throwing down the gauntlet and bringing their biggest hitters to the fray in the form of a live performances from Henrik Schwarz and Ame with Dixon providing DJ support. Not to be outdone, Hospital records will also have a roster of their top big-drop talent including Netsky, High Contrast, and label heads London Elektricity. Clash are also particularly excited to see Swamp 81 records on the bill in the form of Loefah, Boddika, Micky Pearce and Klose One.

And the list goes on. James Zabiela, Norman Jay, Fake Blood, Kerri Chandler, Eats Everything, Scuba, Jack Beats, Shy FX, Mistajam, Justin Martin… how long have you got??

The organisers will again be making the most of the venues on offer across the various types of terrain, including the Forest arena (the clue’s in the name), the famous arctic disco (which for those who don’t know is 5 conjoining igloo’s consisting of 2 dance areas and 3 bars which serve drinks in glasses made of ice), a fancy dress street party, the subterranean Racket Club, the Arena, a Backcountry party in the middle of the mountains as well as various alpine bars and pubs.

Throughout the build up to the festival, Clash will be delivering all the news, updates, gossip, rumours and we’ll have a couple of competition prizes to give away, so stay tuned and we’ll see you on the hill.
