Blur Ticket Competition

Final tickets to be given away

Reformed Britpop giants Blur are due to make the final tickets for their forthcoming intimate live dates available for fans to win in a new competition.

Blur reformed late last year, ending a hiatus that had lasted for over four years. Guitarist Graham Coxon left the group in 2002, citing a break down in the relationship between himself and school friend Damon Albarn.

The band’s final album ‘Think Tank’ was released in 2003, having been completed without assistance from Coxon. Since then, Damon Albarn has released two celebrated studio albums with Gorillaz, scoring a number of hit singles in the process.

Coxon, meanwhile, has netted a critically acclaimed solo career. A love of scratchy punk and indie has given way to a passion for hippy folk, with new album ‘The Spinning Top’ declaring an admiration for talents such as Bert Jansch and Nick Drake.

Blur are set to play two small warm up shows head of their massive re-union gigs at London’s Hyde Park. Taking place at London’s Goldsmith’s College and Colchester East Anglian Railway Museum, the gigs will see the band re-visit the past returning to two of the first venues to house a show by Blur.

Twenty pairs of tickets are up for grabs the London show, while the East Anglian Railway Museum date will have twenty six pairs available. To be in with a chance of winning, fans can pay £5 and enter HERE.

The band are set for a busy summer. Blur are due to play two huge dates in Hyde Park as well as a re-union show in Manchester. Support has been hand picked by the band, with Foals, Vampire Weekend, Florence & The Machine and more set to play at the enormous shows.

After completing their headline shows Blur will head out on the festival trail, with sets due at T In The Park and Oxegen. However the summer’s highlight could well come at Glastonbury, where the band are booked to play what will no doubt be an emotional headline set.

Blur will play the following shows over the summer:

June
21 Southend Cliffs Pavilion
24 Wolverhampton Civic Hall
25 Newcastle Academy
26 Manchester MEN Arena

July
2 London Hyde Park
3 London Hyde Park
10 Oxegen Festival
12 T In The Park Festival
