Reformed Britpop heroes Blur have confirmed details of three more intimate dates this summer.
Blur went on hiatus in 2003 but at the tail end of last year the band members began rehearsing together again. The creative coupling of Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon was severed when the guitarist left the group in 2002, but it seems that the long time friends have managed to patch up their differences.
Not that the reunion has slowed down their solo project, with Albarn working on a new Gorillaz album while Coxon is preparing to release a new folk-rock opera. Ambitious stuff by both men, but what else did we expect from one of the most creative acts British music has produced?
Blur have already confirmed a number of dates this summer including a two night stint at London’s Hyde Park. The band will also play headline slots at Oxegen and T In The Park festivals, while Blur have also confirmed a number of intimate warm up dates.
The band are keen to re-visit their past and the smaller dates will echo the pivotal moments in their early career. Blur will play a show at the site of their first ever gig together, before playing a new trio of dates.
Damon Albarn has previously stated his intention to play Wolverhampton, where the group played a memorable early show. Blur have now confirmed a new show in the Midlands city, and will also play Newcastle and Southend’s historic Pavillion.
Tickets for all these dates will go on sale at the band’s official website from 9am on Wednesday (April 22nd).
Blur are due to play the following dates:
June
21 Southend Cliff Pavillion
24 Wolverhampton Civic Hall
25 Newcastle O2 Academy
