New wave icons Blondie have been added to the bill for this year’s Hop Farm festival.
Working completely without sponsorship or branding, Hop Farm harks back to the golden era of British festivals. Set in the lush English countryside, the event has grabbed some legendary performers for this summer’s instalment.
Earlier this year Hop Farm organisers stunned music fans by confirming Bob Dylan’s first UK festival performance in countless years. The singer doesn’t tend to perform at festivals, with his set at the Isle Of Wight in 1970 going down in music lore.
Due to headline Hop Farm, the iconic singer will be joined by some illustrious company. Van Morrison is due to perform at the festival, with his back catalogue one of very few able to stand next to Dylan’s.
The Northern Irish singer will be joined by a host of new additions. New Yorkers Blondie were fixtures at CBGBs during the punk explosion before going on to find paydirt with excursions into reggae, hip hop and more.
Reforming at the tail end of the 90s, Blondie have enjoyed a unique second life. The hit single ‘Maria’ pushed them back into the public eye, with their back catalogue serving as an inspiration to groups such as The Strokes.
The Hop Farm has just confirmed details of a second stage featuring British songwriter Richard Thompson. Hugely respected, his guitar work is second to none on the folk scene while his songs have been covered by countless artists.
Also due to play are Peter Green, Sweet Billy Pilgrim and more with extra acts being added with each passing day.
The Hop Farm is due to take place between July 2nd – 3rd.
