Bloc Party Solo Show

Kele Okereke to play Ibiza Rocks

Bloc Party singer Kele Okereke has confirmed a solo show at this summer’s Ibiza Rocks festival.

Bloc Party are one of the biggest groups in British indie music, yet recently the band’s future has been dogged by rumours. Completing their mammoth ‘Bloctober’ tour last year, the group confirmed they were going on a break.

Sparking fears amongst fans, Bloc Party confirmed their commitment to each other. Which has hasn’t prevented the band from playing away, however, with a number of solo projects recently being launched.

Russell Lissack is set to release a new album later this year, after launching a new side project at the tail end of 2009. Joining him on the solo trail is Kele Okereke, who will play a show at this summer’s Ibiza Rocks.

Taking place at the lavish hotel, the August 31st show will see the singer debut previously unheard solo material. Joining the Bloc Party singer on the night will be Manchester dance rock newcomers Delphic.

Running between June 8th – September 14th, Ibiza Rocks is one of the centrepieces of the island’s musical entertainment. Amongst the latest acts added to the event are rave rockers The Prodigy.

The legendary Essex beat collective will appear on July 5th, with the rave veterans being joined by The Courteeners, Florence And The Machine and more.

British rap heavyweight Dizzee Rascal is set to play Ibiza Rocks on July 27th, and claimed that he couldn’t wait to get out to the island. “Can’t wait to play Ibiza Rocks again this year,” said Dizzee Rascal. “It was one of my best shows of 2009. It went off big time.”

Tickets for Ibiza Rocks are on sale from today (March 15th).
