Fans of Bloc Party have been left disappointed after the band were forced to cancel their gig in Newport tonight (October 16th).
Bloc Party seem to enjoy side-stepping their fans. Just when some had lost hope in hearing new material from the band ‘Intimacy’ dropped by, a sudden release that wasn’t presaged by the usual barrage of hype.
After this the band played a number of special tour dates before hitting the festival circuit. Bloc Party offered their material to some of the finest producers in the dance world, resulting in ‘Intimacy Remixed’.
A startling new vision of Bloc Party’s material, the band followed this with the shock new single ‘One More Chance’. Produced by Jacknife Lee, the track harked back to the band’s trademark early sound.
As a special bonus for fans, Bloc Party organised their first full length UK tour since December 2007. Dubbed ‘Bloctober’ the dates take place throughout October, but the band have been dealt an unexpected blow.
Bloc Party were due to play the town’s Newport Centre tonight (October 16th) but have been forced to cancel. Guitarist Russell Lissack is undergoing a medical procedure, meaning the show cannot now go ahead.
According to a spokesperson for the band, the guitarist’s condition “while not being serious, cannot be delayed until the end of the tour”.
The band are unable to reschedule the show due to the format of the tour and refunds are are available from point of purchase. Bloc Party apologised for the cancellation and said they “hope to be able to be back in Newport soon”.
