Black Sabbath have confirmed a one off hometown show at the Birmingham Academy on May 19th.
The Midlands is the birthplace of heavy metal. Lurching out of the industrial heartland, Black Sabbath’s sludgy riffs, wailing vocals, pounding drums and eerie lyrics carved out a niche that would inspire an entire genre.
Now Birmingham is set to be the site of the first British show from the reformed Black Sabbath in some time. The band confirmed their reformation last year, outlining plans for a series of shows and a new album.
Due to play Lollapalooza later this summer, Black Sabbath are also set to play this summer’s instalment of Download.
Now Black Sabbath have confirmed plans for a one off show in Birmingham. Taking place on May 19th, the show will occupy the relatively intimate confines of the city’s O2 Academy.
Tickets are set to go on sale shortly.
