Bestival organisers have helped set up a help line for those affected by a recent bus crash.
Terrible news from Bestival. This morning a bus carrying revellers back from the Isle of Wight crashed into a tree near Surrey.
Emergency services were quick on the scene, but three people have already been pronounced dead. According to police, one person has been air-lifted with life-changing injuries and several more have been taken to hospital.
The bus was journeying to Liverpool, and suffered what Insp Richard Mallett has labelled a “significant impact”. Continuing, the officer said: “I understand the road was dry. We cannot see any reason that the road conditions would have had any effect on what occurred”.
Bestival organisers have issued a short statement expressing their shock, and have assisted in setting up an emergency phoneline.
“Devastating news re coach crash, our thoughts are with the relatives of those affected by this tragic incident. We are currently liaising with Surrey Police to establish the facts.
