Californian noise pop duo Best Coast have confirmed a series of winter tour dates across Europe.
Best Coast seem intrinsically linked to sunshine. The band’s noise pop template doffs its cap to fellow Californian types The Beach Boys, but their chiming harmonies have found a new slacker aesthetic.
Debut album ‘Crazy For You’ was released recently, to instant critical acclaim. Reaching the Top 40 on the Billboard charts Best Coast are finding a wider audience, with Bethany Cosentino’s tales striking a chord.
Profoundly laid back, her love of weed and her cat Snacks have made the singer an indie pop icon. Launching a Twitter feed for her pet, the singer seemed to match oddball behaviour with sublime music.
Now Best Coast are set to shake off those slacker tendencies with a lengthy European tour. The duo are set to hit the live trail just as the winter night draw in, with British shows launching this December.
Live, the band expanded to a trio with the addition of drummer Ali Koehler, previously of fellow indie pop outfit Vivian Girls.
Meanwhile, Bethany Cosentino’s former band have split up. Pocahaunted recorded several tracks, and had intended to continue with Cosentino as a part-time member. However with ‘Crazy For You’ becoming an international success it seems that the Los Angeles band have decided to call it a day.
Best Coast will launch their European tour in November 29th, playing a show in Manchester. Travelling to Birmingham, the short British tour will conclude with a one off date in London’s The Scala venue.
Moving on to the continent, the newly expanded trio will see out the year with a host of European shows.
