American noise pop group Best Coast are amongst the latest additions to ‘Bowlie 2’.
At the time, it was seen as a curiosity – a novelty weekend for indie kids. The Bowlie Weekender helped to spark All Tomorrows Parties, which has now become a globally renowned event.
To close the festival’s 10th anniversary Belle & Sebastian have agreed to return as curators with the line up shaping up to be a cracker. Alongside the Glasgow indie-pop giants a host of new names have been added to the bill.
Los Angeles duo Best Coast are set to appear, fresh from the success of their debut album ‘Crazy For You’. A series of fuzzed up pop vignettes, the album won critical acclaim for its updated slacker ethos.
Set to perform at Bowlie 2, Best Coast join a rapidly expanding bill. The line up reflects Scottish – and in particular Glasgow – based guitar pop with the likes of Teenage Fanclub and The Pastels set to perform.
Other new additions include Peter Parker and The Amphetameanies, a Glasgow based ska troupe who once boasted Franz Ferdinand singer Alex Kapranos as a member. Elsewhere, fans will be kept entertained by Them Beatles, a note perfect tribute to the Fab Four.
Drawing on the full reserve of the band’s back catalogue, Them Beatles also have a psychedelic light show. In total forty bands will perform, with the line up being hand picked by Belle & Sebastian.
Other names confirmed for the bill include Foals, Crystal Castles, Edwyn Collins, The Vaselines, Julian Cope and Frightened Rabbit. Expect more additions in the run up to the event.
Bowlie 2 takes place between December 10th – 12th.
